Fr. Nestor Mtweve was sent by his bishop to the U.S. in 2017 to earn a business degree that would benefit the Diocese of Njombe (Tanzania) upon his return. He ended up earning an MBA at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, and spent nearly three years at Saints Peter and Paul in Naperville, Illinois, (“SsPP”) as a parochial vicar. The now-board members and many parishioners came to know and appreciate Fr. Nestor as an example of sacrifice and service to Our Lord and Our Lady. It is for this reason that several parishioners decided to help Fr. Nestor with his assigned mission upon his return to Tanzania in January 2021. With the support of the pastor and parish council, the non-profit, Hope for Tanzania, Inc. (“HFT”), was established in March 2021 and achieved 501(c)(3) status in January 2022.
HFT is organized exclusively for charitable purposes in accordance with Sec. 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to support the people in Tanzania, Africa. More particularly, HFT, through the guidance provided by Fr. Nestor, provides financial resources for projects and initiatives aimed at improving the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being for the men, women, and children located primarily in the Diocese of Njombe in Tanzania, Africa.
HFT shall not act in any way contrary to the official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church including those teachings on marriage, the family, human sexuality, and moral theology. Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception is the patroness of the organization and to whom HFT credits much of its success. Her assistance is sought faithfully in prayer by the HFT volunteer team as they attempt to live out the Gospel by assisting HFT and Fr. Nestor in our works of mercy toward the poor.
We strive to provide basic health care to heal the bodies of our Tanzanian brothers and sisters. Many children are still isolated or even killed due to having treatable disabilities. Through surgery and rehabilitation services, we can offer hope.
Saving souls is even more of a priority than healing the body, but we believe the two go hand in hand. Our funds also go to meet the spiritual needs of the diocese through the funding of the hospital chapel and assisting with selected local parish needs.
From July 2021 through May 2024, HFT has made donations of $764,000 to construct, support, and supply needed medical and spiritual care facilities within the Diocese of Njombe. Please help us raise funds to continue to support Fr. Nestor’s life sustaining work.
"He is a witness of God’s love everywhere he goes."
Profile
My name is Fr. Nestor Mtweve, a Roman Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Njombe – Tanzania. After my four hectic years of undergraduate and graduate school at Benedictine University, I came back to my diocese and was assigned to work as managing director of the INUKA rehabilitation hospital. While I am managing the hospital, I am still a priest and my mission to bring Christ to the people in my region is still my priority. However, when people lack the essentials of life, including adequate food, shelter and health care, they are not as receptive to the gospel. Thus, I have asked Hope for Tanzania (“HFT”) to aid in Healing Bodies to Help Save Souls.
99% of your donation goes directly to those in most need. Your donation is truly a lifeline providing healing and help to Tanzanians in unimaginable circumstances!
